The sculpture aims to point out this history. The unusual „otherness“ of this work should be a catalyst to delve back into Burgenland’s own history and lead to a new, objective and matter-of-fact appraisal of the present societal situation in relation to the new wave of migration.
Where to? The camel symbolizes time and carries our history on its back. It bears a unifying message: Burgenland, and the town of Kittsee, were and are borderlands. Borderlands are areas where people of different cultures can meet and mix.
